Grey-Wolf-Optimization-Algorithm-Based Tuned P-PI Cascade Controller for Dual-Ball-Screw Feed Drive Systems

Dual-ball-screw feed drive systems (DBSFDSs) are designed for most high-end manufacturing equipment. However, the mismatch between dynamic characteristic parameters (e.g., stiffness and inertia) P-PI cascade control method reduces accuracy of DBSFDSs owing to structural changes in motion. Moreover, controller always same even though two axes have different characteristics, it is difficult tune two-axis simultaneously. A new application combination grey wolf optimization (GWO) algorithm presented solve these problems enhance motion performance DBSFDSs. The novelty that flexible coupling model obtained from motor current can better represent GWO used adjust address variations positions moving parts reflect differences axes. Comparison simulation experimental results validated superiority proposed over existing ones practical applications, showing a decrease tracking error tool center non-synchronization 34% 39%, respectively.
